25 kidnapped workers from Lama released on ransom of 10 lakh taka

Finally, 25 workers kidnapped in Lama have been released on ransom of 10 lakh taka.

They were released on Tuesday (February 18).

The released workers are – Md. Faruk (26), Md. Ayub Ali (26), Md. Siddique (40), Md. Abdul Khalek (20), Abdul Majed (17), Monirul Islam (30), Ziaur Rahman (45), Md. Mubarak (25), Md. Harul (30), Syed Nur (28), Ramiz Uddin (30), Md. Kaysar (38), Md. Monir Hossain (35), Md. Imran (17), Manjur (30), Afsar Ali (25), Md. Khairul Amin (30), Abu Bakkar (29), Abdur Razzak (33) and Md. Mobin (25).

All of them are residents of Ramu and Eidgah in Cox’s Bazar district and Naikshongchhari upazila in Bandarban district. The names of the other 6 people could not be identified.

The released workers are reportedly undergoing treatment in various clinics and hospitals.

Md. Forkan, owner of Arafat Rubber Garden, said that the terrorists had to pay a ransom of 3 lakh taka to free 12 people from his garden and 7 lakh taka to free 14 people from the remaining 5 gardens, a total of 10 lakh taka. The kidnapped workers were beaten up badly. After their rescue, they are now being treated at Eidgaon Upazila Hospital in Cox’s Bazar upazila.
