Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s appeal to halt bombings in Gaza, Israeli forces have carried out heavy airstrikes and shelling, leaving at least seven people dead, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense, as reported by Al Jazeera.
Officials said that even after Hamas agreed to a proposed deal, Israel ignored Washington’s request and launched a series of overnight attacks on Gaza City and surrounding areas.
“It was a devastating night. Dozens of strikes targeted both Gaza City and the valley regions, despite President Trump’s call to stop the bombardment,” Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal told local media.
The escalation came just hours after Hamas responded to Trump’s Gaza initiative, agreeing to release Israeli hostages and hand over governance to a Palestinian technocratic authority.
