With the international break over, Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury is now back in England, preparing for the upcoming season. In a recent interview on the Star app, he opened up about the warmth and love he received during his visit to Bangladesh.
Although Bangladesh lags behind England in football, Hamza said the country is far ahead when it comes to love and hospitality. The Premier League player revealed that a big part of his heart still remains in Bangladesh.
Reflecting on his trip, Hamza shared, “When I first went to Bangladesh, I visited my village. It’s a very rural area, and a big part of my childhood memories are tied to that place.”
He was deeply moved by the hospitality he received there. “The welcome I got is hard to put into words,” he said. “Even my teammates still talk about it—it was unbelievable. The level of love we felt didn’t seem real.”
Hamza compared the experience to the attention he receives in the UK and said, “We do get recognition in the UK as footballers, but it doesn’t come close to the sincerity and affection we experienced in Bangladesh. It was truly exceptional.”
Though living in England, Hamza confessed that his heart remains strongly connected to Bangladesh. “Some might say this sounds emotional or overly sentimental,” he said, “but I genuinely feel that a big part of my heart is still there. People come just to show love and positivity. It’s an incredible feeling.”
