According to Election Commissioner Professor Ariful Haque Siddique, a total of 1,088 nomination forms have been collected for 232 posts in both the central and hall unions. Among them, 488 forms were collected for the 26 posts of the central union, while 600 forms were collected for 206 hall union positions.

Nomination Forms Collected in Male Halls

From nine residential halls and one hostel, 452 students have collected nomination forms:

  • Alaol Hall: 39

  • A.F. Rahman Hall: 42

  • Shahjalal Hall: 41

  • Shah Amanat Hall: 46

  • Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall: 37

  • Shaheed Farhad Hossain Hall: 58

  • Suhrawardy Hall: 75

  • Atish Dipankar Hall: 49

  • Masterda Surya Sen Hall: 39

  • Artist Abdur Rashid Hostel: 26

Nomination Forms Collected in Female Halls

From five women’s halls, 148 students collected nomination forms:

  • Bijoy 24 Hall: 39

  • Pritilata Hall: 33

  • Khaleda Zia Hall: 37

  • Nawab Faizunnesa Hall: 14

  • Shamsunnahar Hall: 25

Submitted Nomination Forms

So far, 19 nomination forms have been submitted — 14 for the central union, 3 for male halls, and 2 for female halls.

Declared Panels

In the central union election, three panels have been announced:

  1. Droho Parishad – a joint panel by Bangladesh Chhatra Union and Socialist Student Front

  2. ChakSU for Rapid Change – announced by Chhatra Odhikar Parishad

  3. Conscious Student Union – by Islami Chhatra Andolon, with Finance student Abdur Rahman running for Vice President

For the hall elections, two panels have been declared:

  • Bond of Unity – a panel of hill students in Nawab Faizunnesa Hall, which collected 14 forms

  • United Female Student Alliance – supported by Islami Chhatri Sangstha in Pritilata Hall, which collected 12 forms

Code of Conduct Violation

On the final day of form collection, allegations of violating the electoral code were reported. Independent candidate Salman Rahman Sakib, a second-year Philosophy student, collected a form for the executive post of the central union. His supporters were seen clapping and chanting slogans, which is prohibited under election rules. The regulations allow no more than five supporters, and no processions or chanting during form collection.

Sakib responded, saying, “I was the first to collect the form. Some juniors may not have been aware of the rules and unintentionally shouted slogans.”

Chief Election Commissioner Professor Monir Uddin confirmed that the matter is under review and the candidate will be summoned.

Election Timeline

  • Last date for submission of nomination papers: September 17

  • Scrutiny of papers: September 18

  • Publication of preliminary candidate list: September 21

  • Withdrawal deadline: September 23

  • Final candidate list: September 25

  • Voting: October 12, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
