PSC Issues Guidelines for 47th BCS Preliminary Exam on September 19

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has published detailed instructions for candidates appearing in the 47th BCS Preliminary Examination, scheduled for Friday, September 19, 2025. The guidelines, seat plan, and exam schedule were released on Tuesday via the official PSC website.

According to the announcement, a total of 374,747 applicants have registered for the exam this year, which aims to recruit candidates for various cadre and non-cadre positions.

Positions to be Filled

The 47th BCS will fill a total of 3,688 positions, including:

  • 3,487 cadre posts

  • 201 non-cadre posts
    This edition of the BCS also includes some newly introduced positions.

Exam Schedule & Venues

  • Date: Friday, September 19, 2025

  • Time: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

  • Entry Deadline: Candidates must enter the exam hall by 9:30 AM sharp. No one will be allowed entry after this time.

  • Exam Centers: Exams will be held in eight divisional cities—Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh.

Key Instructions for Candidates

  1. Entry Time & Hall Information
    Candidates must arrive at the exam hall before 9:30 AM. Hall and seat numbers will be sent to each candidate via SMS ahead of time.

  2. Distribution of Materials

    • Answer sheets will be handed out between 9:30 AM and 9:55 AM.

    • There will be four versions of the answer sheets (Set 1, 2, 3, and 4).

    • Question papers will be distributed at 10:00 AM.

  3. Items Strictly Prohibited
    The following are not allowed inside the exam hall under any circumstances:

    • Books or printed materials

    • Any kind of watch

    • Mobile phones

    • Calculators

    • Electronic devices (including smart gadgets, bank/credit cards)

    • Bags or jewelry

  4. Hearing Aids & Ear Coverings

    • Ears must remain uncovered during the exam.

    • Use of hearing aids is only permitted with prior approval from the commission, based on a doctor’s recommendation.

  5. Exam Format & Marking

    • The test will feature 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

    • Each correct answer carries 1 mark.

    • For each incorrect answer, 0.50 marks will be deducted from the total score (negative marking).

The BPSC urges all candidates to strictly follow the rules and arrive well in advance to avoid any inconvenience. Violations of the guidelines may result in disqualification.
