Bangladesh Bank has taken an initiative to normalize transactions of six banks facing cash crisis. For this, these banks have been lent Tk 22,500 crore. If more money is needed to normalize the situation, the central bank will provide that assistance. Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur said that the government is with all bank depositors.
The central bank governor made this comment at a press conference after a meeting with the chairmen and representatives of the six banks facing liquidity problems. These six banks are National Bank, First Security Islami Bank, Exim Bank, Union Bank, Global Islami Bank and Social Islami Bank.
Governor Ahsan H. Mansur said, “The banks facing problems are being given a lot of help. At the same time, these banks have been kept under close supervision. We are determined to look after the interests of the customers. The money deposited by every depositor will be protected by the government and Bangladesh Bank. If any bank faces liquidity problems, assistance is being provided to it. Already, Tk 22,500 crore in liquidity support has been provided. More support will be provided if needed. The interests of depositors will be fully protected.’
The Governor of Bangladesh Bank said that customers are able to withdraw money as per their requirement from all branches of the bank. There will be no problem in the coming days as well.
