Lawyer Saiful Islam murder: 147 accused in two cases

A case has been filed naming 31 people in the murder of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif, a member of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association and the Chittagong District Bar Association. 15 unknown people have been named as accused in the case.

On Friday (November 29) night, three days after Alif was killed, his father Jamal Uddin filed the case at the city’s Kotwali police station.

Alif’s brother Jane Alam filed another case against 116 people for allegedly attacking and vandalizing lawyers in the court premises.

The accused in the murder case are Chandan, Aman Das, Shuvo Kanti Das, Bunja, Ranab, Bidhan, Bikash, Ramit, Rumit Das, Nayan Das, Gagan Das, Vishal Das, Omkar Das, Vishal, Rajkapur, Lala, Sameer, Sohel Das, Shiv Kumar, Biglal, Parash, Ganesh, Om Das, Poppy, Ajay, Devi Charan, Dev, Joy, Durlav Das and Rajiv Bhattacharya, all residents of Bandel Road Sevak Colony area under Kotwali police station.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Department’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz confirmed the case.
