The National Democratic Front (NDF), led by Anisul Islam Mahmud, along with a faction of the Jatiya Party (JaPa) and the Jatiya Party (JP) led by Anwar Hossain Manju, will hold interviews of prospective candidates on December 21.
The announcement was made in a press release issued on Wednesday (December 17), signed by MA Razzak Khan, office secretary of the Jatiya Party (one faction).
According to the release, Anisul Islam Mahmud—Chairman of both the National Democratic Front and the Jatiya Party (one faction)—has requested aspiring candidates from the alliance’s member parties to appear for interviews at 11:00 am on December 21. Candidates are asked to attend the session with their curriculum vitae and relevant documents at House 121/D, Road 44, Gulshan Avenue, Dhaka.
The press release also urged the presidents and general secretaries of all parties within the front to take necessary steps to ensure participation in the interview process.
The National Democratic Front was formally announced on December 9 at an event in Dhaka, ahead of the upcoming national election. The alliance brings together 18 political parties, including the Jatiya Party led by former minister Anisul Islam Mahmud and the Jatiya Party (JP) under the leadership of Anwar Hossain Manju. Of the 18 parties, six are registered with the Election Commission.
Under the newly formed alliance, Anwar Hossain Manju has been appointed as Chief Adviser, while Anisul Islam Mahmud serves as President. The alliance’s Chief Spokesperson is ABM Ruhul Amin Howladar, Secretary General of the Jatiya Party (one faction).
Additionally, Golam Sarwar, Acting Chairman of Janata Party Bangladesh—formed under the leadership of Elias Kanchan—has been named Chief Coordinator of the alliance.
Member parties of the National Democratic Front include: Jatiya Party (Anisul Islam Mahmud faction), Bangladesh National Party (JP), Janata Party Bangladesh, Trinamool BNP, Bangladesh Nationalist Movement, Bangladesh Cultural Liberation Alliance, Gono Front, Bangladesh Muslim League (Mohsin Rashid), National Islamic Grand Alliance, Bangladesh Independent Party, Bangladesh Independence Party, Alliance Democratic Party, Bangladesh Democratic Movement, Democratic Party, National Cultural Alliance, JASAD (Shahjahan Siraj), United Democratic Party, and Gono Andolon.
