Ship from Karachi arrives at Chittagong Port

The ship MV Yuan Xian Fa Zhong, which arrived from Karachi Port in Pakistan, has arrived at the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) yard of Chittagong Port.

It arrived at the NCT yard at 2:30 pm on Sunday (December 22).

Chittagong Port Secretary Omar Farooq said that after unloading the goods, the ship will leave Chittagong Port tomorrow with 1,200 TEUs of goods and empty containers.

For the first time in the country’s history, the ship that came directly from Karachi to Chittagong had 328 TEUs of imported goods. After 38 days, the ship brought almost three times that number of containers on its second trip on Sunday. It contains 825 TEUs of containers.

Of these, 711 TEUs of containers come directly from Karachi. These containers contain various types of goods including consumer goods, garment accessories, etc.

It is learnt that out of the 825 TEUs containers on the ship, 285 TEUs contain refined sugar, 171 containers contain dolomite, 138 containers contain soda ash, 46 containers contain rolls of cloth for the garment industry, 20 containers contain sugarcane molasses, 18 containers contain potatoes and 20 containers contain scrap iron, resins and cloth. The containers loaded on the ship from the United Arab Emirates carry various products including dates, lube oil, marble stones.
