He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the pre-peace procession organized by the Sammilita Buddha Purnima Celebration Parishad on the occasion of Buddha Purnima in front of DC Hill at the Buddhist temple in the city on Sunday (May 11) morning.
He said that there will be no majority politics in Bangladesh. The country will be run through the participation of every citizen and the identity of every citizen is Bangladeshi. The state of each religion is for everyone. Therefore, there will be no opportunity for division in this state, society, and country.
61 organizations participated in the peace procession. The procession started in front of the Buddhist temple and ended at the Buddhist temple via Enayet Bazar, Jubilee Road, New Market, Kotwali More, Laldighi Par, Andarkilla, Cheragi More.
The procession, chaired by former District Primary Education Officer Riton Kumar Barua, President of the Celebration Council, was inaugurated by Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain. Special guests included CMP Deputy Police Commissioner (South) Md. Alamgir Hossain, RKK Bangladesh Branch Minister Mr. Mori Masanobu, former General Secretary of Chittagong Metropolitan BNP Abul Hashem Bakkar, former Convener of South District BNP Abu Sufian and BNP Chairperson’s Foreign Affairs Committee member Israfil Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.
At this time, Amir Khasru said, “We will all build a society, country, and state together. There is no room for division here. Majority politics will not work in Bangladesh. We will all build a country together.”
He also said that this was the main objective of the thoughts and ideas of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, martyred President Ziaur Rahman. He brought Bangladeshi nationalism for this. All the people living in this country are Bangladeshis. It is clear that everyone has their own religion and state. We want to give a message, this country is for everyone. We have to build it together.
Commenting that there can be political differences among people, he said, in this peace procession, there must be a peaceful situation in the country’s politics. I will have political differences with others, but I have to respect the views of others. Even though we are different, we can walk together, we can respect each other, there is no problem. Everyone has to be tolerant. There is no more peaceful form in the country. Therefore, the people of this country want a stable Bangladesh. Where everyone will come forward. I consider today’s procession as a symbol of that.
Commenting that we do not want any more unrest in the country, Amir Khasru Mahmud said, those in the Buddhist community in the country. But they live more in Chittagong. We have grown up with them since childhood. We have studied together with many friends. The message of peace that Buddhist Purnima has is all over the world and is more applicable to Bangladesh. We have been in a lot of unrest for the past 10-15 years. We have been in so much turmoil that this society has broken down, politics has broken down, the country has broken down, business and everything in our society has been destroyed. We want to build a country and society that will be peaceful. We do not want any more unrest in Bangladesh.
Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, we want to build Chittagong as a clean, green, healthy city as well as a city of peace. At the same time, we are working to build it as a safe city. Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim or Christian, we are all bound by the bond of harmony.
