Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has demanded the arrest of those involved in the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif within 24 hours and the ban on ISKCON.

He made these remarks while addressing a protest rally organized at Tiger Pass intersection in Chittagong city on Wednesday (November 27) afternoon.

He said, “ISKCON is creating unrest in Bangladesh with the help of the autocratic Awami League on India’s prescription. No matter how much conspiracy is attempted in India, we the people of Bangladesh will stop that conspiracy. This Awami fascist force is conspiring to disturb the country from abroad. We want to say that the rehabilitation of Awami League will not happen in Bangladesh.”

This protest rally was organized in protest against the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam. At that time, he raised the slogan, ‘This ISKCON is a militant, they are partners of tyranny’.

Earlier, at 11:30 am, the second funeral of slain lawyer Saiful Islam was held at the premises of Jamiatul Falah Jame Mosque in the city. Hasnat Abdullah Badeo and July Shaheed Smriti Foundation General Secretary Sarjis Alam participated in it. After that, thousands of students led by them took up positions at Tiger Pass intersection and held a rally. They declared ISKCON a militant organization and shouted slogans demanding its ban.

Russel Ahmed, member of the central committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and Khan Talat Mahmud, central co-coordinator, spoke at the rally. They all demanded the arrest of those involved in the murder within 24 hours.

At that time, Hasnat Abdullah said, ‘All religions will coexist in our country. “We will work to protect everyone’s rights. But if extremist organizations operate in the name of religion, they will not be given even a single inch of space in Bangladesh.”
