Mirza Fakhrul said, I have come to convey the concerns of our party regarding the activities of the last few days to the Chief Advisor. We hope that the Chief Advisor will arrange for a quick and peaceful resolution to this issue. Let there be no situation that creates division in the country.

He told reporters after meeting Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday (November 27) evening.

Stating that national unity is the most needed now, he said, there are many big challenges ahead of us. To face those challenges, especially those who pose a threat to the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh or want to destroy peace and stability, we must build national unity. We have said these things.

BNP Secretary General said, the people are suffering, especially the rise in commodity prices, we have brought this issue before them. I have talked about increasing the number of TCB trucks. I have talked about increasing them on an area-by-area basis.

He said that the movement of vehicles should be uninterrupted. At the same time, the problems that exist in agriculture, especially in the distribution of fertilizers, are still being controlled by the fascists’ friends. In this case, those who are on the side of the people should be brought here.

Mirza Fakhrul said that in the case of industrial production, we have said that normal activities should continue. Especially in industrial areas, there should be no obstacles in the payment of salaries to workers. The government should make arrangements to provide loans so that they receive regular salaries.

He said that we have also said another important issue – most of the union councils that exist were installed by the fascist government with people like them in the elections. Since the city corporation and municipality have been dissolved, now the union councils should be dissolved and the next elections should be held.

Regarding the trade bodies, the BNP Secretary General said that the trade bodies should be dissolved and a new trade body should be formed through elections. Overall, we have called for a national unity through discussions with all political parties. However, the most important thing is to complete the electoral reforms and announce the election roadmap as soon as possible.

Earlier in the afternoon, a five-member BNP delegation went to meet the Chief Advisor. The meeting began at 6 pm at the State Guest House Jamuna. The BNP delegation included Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Salahuddin Ahmed.
