Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser on Labor and Employment Affairs, has stated that the government will not be responsible for paying workers’ wages — employers must bear that responsibility.

He made the remarks on Wednesday (October 8) while addressing a seminar on sustainable reforms in the labor sector.

Dr. Hossain further emphasized that the government is actively working to reform the labor sector, giving special priority to amending the labor laws. He noted that the reform process is nearing completion and, once implemented, will bring significant positive changes to the sector.

He also assured that the government remains committed to protecting workers’ rights and that no worker will remain unpaid under the upcoming reforms.
