The interim government has reinforced security across all religious institutions in Dhaka following a series of cocktail explosions in different parts of the capital. In an official statement released on Monday, the government also warned that the strictest application of law will be ensured against anyone attempting to disrupt religious harmony or communal coexistence.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the recent explosions. Preliminary investigations have identified him as a member of the banned organization “Chhatra League.”

According to a statement issued by the Press Wing on the Chief Adviser’s verified Facebook page, the suspect is currently being interrogated about multiple incidents, including the explosions at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Kakrail and the St. Joseph School premises.

The statement further added that DMP, in coordination with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), has intensified citywide raids to arrest all individuals involved in these “heinous and cowardly acts of violence.”

Authorities confirmed that security has been strengthened at all churches and places of worship belonging to every faith across the capital. The interim government reiterated its firm commitment to maintaining interfaith unity and communal peace, warning that any attempt to disturb this harmony will face the highest level of legal action.

Earlier on Monday morning, four separate explosions were reported in Dhaka, though no casualties were recorded.

According to police reports, two cocktails exploded near the offices of Prabartana, an organization linked to environmentalists Farida Akhter and Farhad Mazhar, in Mohammadpur. Another device detonated outside Grameen Bank’s headquarters in Mirpur.

Additionally, explosions occurred in front of Midas Center on Dhanmondi 27 and near Ibn Sina Hospital at Dhanmondi 9. Police confirmed that while the incidents caused panic, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
