Although all four remaining teams are considered strong contenders for the FIFA World Cup title, the latest statistical projections from the Opta Supercomputer give England a slight edge over Argentina ahead of their highly anticipated semifinal clash.
Based on recent performances, team strength, and a range of advanced statistical models, Opta forecasts an extremely competitive encounter between England and Argentina.
According to the prediction, England has a 50.96% chance of reaching the World Cup final, narrowly ahead of Argentina, which has been given a 49.04% probability.
Opta’s analysis of the result within regular time also slightly favors England. The supercomputer estimates England’s chances of winning in the 90-minute contest at 38.9%, while Argentina’s probability stands at 34.1%. The likelihood of the match extending into extra time has been calculated at 27%.
The statistical model also places England marginally ahead in the race for the World Cup trophy. Opta projects England’s title-winning probability at 21.94%, compared with 20.55% for Argentina.
Despite the numerical forecasts, football analysts emphasize that statistical models only estimate probabilities rather than predict guaranteed outcomes. The decisive factor will ultimately be each team’s performance on the pitch, where tactics, individual brilliance, and match-day execution will determine who secures a place in the World Cup final.
