It will take just three hours to reach Dhaka from Benapole. The Benapole Express train will run on the Benapole-Narail-Dhaka route from December 1.
Stationmaster of Benapole Railway Station Saiduzzaman confirmed the matter.
He said that the distance between Benapole and Dhaka is not very long. Not only will the number of passengers increase with a comfortable train journey in a short time, but also the imported and local farmers’ products will reach Dhaka in a shorter time. As a result, the people of this region will benefit in various ways.
The train will leave Dhaka’s Kamalapur station at 6 am and reach Benapole at 9 am. It will leave Benapole at 10 am and reach Kamalapur at 1 pm. It will leave Kamalapur again at 2 pm for Benapole and reach Benapole at 5 pm. The train will leave Benapole at 7 pm and reach Dhaka at 10 pm.
The train was supposed to go from Benapole to Dhaka via Narail last July. Later, the inauguration date was postponed. Keeping in mind the passport passengers, the railway authorities made arrangements to run the train from Benapole to Dhaka via the Padma Bridge twice a day.
Jessore Rail Implementation Committee leader Iqbal Kabir Zahid said that Jessore is an old district town during the British era. Apart from being the largest land port, Benapole also has a cantonment, MM College, and Science and Technology University, Jessore also has the largest motor and motorcycle parts business. Thousands of passengers travel from Jessore to Dhaka every day.
He said that keeping in mind the large population, two more train connections should be established with Jessore. If a train is launched with Chuadanga or Darshana in addition to Benapole, Jessore passengers, passport passengers going to India via Gede border, and passengers from Kotchandpur and Kaliganj areas of Jhenaidah will benefit.
