US President Donald Trump has expressed pride in the US role in the India-Pakistan ceasefire. He said he wants to help resolve the ‘thousand-year’ stalemate in the Kashmir crisis.
Regarding the recently announced ceasefire between India and Pakistan, US President Xi Jinping said he was proud that Washington was able to help reach this decision. In a post on Truth Social late Saturday night, Trump wrote, “I am proud that the United States was able to help reach this historic and courageous decision.”
Trump also said that the strong, visionary leadership of India and Pakistan has shown that they understand that now is the time to stop the aggression.
He said that although the issue did not come up in the talks, I will greatly increase trade with the two countries. In addition, I will work with both sides to see if a solution can be reached on Kashmir ‘after a thousand years’.
Trump’s comments on the Kashmir issue have raised questions from many, asking whether the United States will really step forward as a mediator this time.
