Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that 50 thousand metric tons of onions are coming to the country from India. Some onions will enter the market before fasting, so the market is fairly stable.
He said these things in response to reporters’ questions after a program at Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan on Saturday afternoon.
The foreign minister said that dishonest syndicates raise the prices of various products on various pretexts. We have seen that 150,000 eggs have been recovered from a cold storage. Onion crisis was created in the past. Again, when onions were imported from abroad, the onions were spoiled in the market, then the rotten onions stored in the storage were thrown away. Our government will take all measures against such syndicates.
It is also correct that those who want to bring down the government are also associated with this syndicate. But as you can see, the market is fairly stable,” he added.
Hasan Mahmud said, not only wholesalers, but also retailers tend to make a little more profit. We have asked people to be aware against it. The government will also take all measures.
Jatiya Sangsad Whip Saimum Sarwar Kamal, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, Chittagong Association, Dhaka President Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury and General Secretary Engineer Ujjwal Mallik were present as special guests in the program presided over by Gias Uddin Khan, President of Rangunia Association-Dhaka.
