Appeal Hearings Over Nomination Rejections Enter Fourth Day for 13th Parliamentary Election

The appeal process against decisions made by returning officers during the scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election entered its fourth day on Tuesday.

Appeal hearings began at 10:00am on January 13 at the Election Commission auditorium (Basement-2) in Agargaon, Dhaka. On the day, appeals numbered from 211 to 280 are scheduled to be heard, covering a total of 70 candidates. The hearings are set to continue until 5:00pm.

Earlier, hearings on appeals filed by 210 candidates were completed over the previous three days.

According to the revised election schedule, the appeal disposal process will continue from January 10 to January 18. The deadline for withdrawal of candidacy is January 20. Final lists of candidates, along with the allocation of election symbols by returning officers, will be published on January 21.

Election campaigning will officially begin on January 22 and may continue until 7:30am on February 10. Voting is scheduled to take place on February 12, from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
