A development project video showed a picture of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who left the country due to the student-public uprising. Two advisors of the current interim government present at the meeting expressed their anger over the display of such a video.

Such a video was shown at the meeting of the Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) yesterday, Saturday. The organization has issued a show cause notice to CDA executive engineer Ahmed Moinuddin for dereliction of duty. He is the director of the CDA’s waterlogging relief project.

Two CDA officials present at the meeting told Prothom Alo that project directors show videos and slides with information and data on the development work of the ongoing projects of the CDA. Like others, Ahmed Moinuddin also showed videos of the ‘Re-excavation, expansion, renovation and development of canals to relieve waterlogging in Chittagong city’ project. But there, pictures of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and a former chairman of the CDA were shown. This created an embarrassing situation in the meeting. The two advisors also expressed their anger.

Advisor to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman, Land Advisor AF Hasan Arif, Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Hamidur Rahman Khan, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Shahadat Hossain, and CDA Chairman Nurul Karim were present at this exchange of views.

However, an engineer of the CDA, on condition of anonymity, said that the issue of showing the picture of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the video was a mistake. Instead of the newly made video, the previous video was started. However, as soon as the issue came to light, it was stopped. The new video was shown.

CDA Secretary Rabindra Chakma confirmed that a show-cause notice was issued to Project Director and Executive Engineer Ahmed Moinuddin. He told Prothom Alo on Sunday evening that a show cause notice has been issued to Engineer Ahmed Moinuddin due to negligence of duty. He was negligent in showing the video. Now he has been asked to respond to the notice within 10 working days. Further action will be taken after receiving the response.
