Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan mahmud said that the US delegation has given five observations to lift the ban on Bangladesh’s elite force RAB. He said this to reporters after the meeting with the US delegation.

The Foreign minister said, we have discussed the Rohingya issue. I thanked them. We discussed that they are continuously putting pressure on Myanmar to repatriate the Rohingyas and that they are providing all possible support to the Rohingyas, we have given them shelter here.

He said, I have discussed with them about the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza. We discussed the Russia-Ukraine war that plagues all of us today and how it was disappointing for all of us that this war suddenly broke out after the Corona pandemic.

He said that the topic of the meeting of the President of Ukraine with Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina at the Munich Security Conference was discussed here. We discussed the issue of sending Rashed Chowdhury, the self-confessed murderer of Bangabandhu who had fled to the United States, back to Bangladesh. We have multifaceted support on security issues, we work together. We have contacts in the international arena. We discussed the lifting of RAB sanctions. They gave five observations. We are working on them. They also started working on how to remove it, discussing their observations.

In response to the question whether they have communicated anything about their concern about the Bay of Bengal for the situation in Myanmar, he said, “The security issue that we have created here due to the situation in Myanmar is correct.” Because 330 members of their security forces fled here from Myanmar, they took them back again. We discussed the security risk we face here due to the tense situation there and the clash of government forces with the Arakan Army. They agreed on the return of the Rohingyas with respect and full rights. Security risk has been created, I have discussed that. Regional security concerns were not discussed.
