The entertainment industry has been left in mourning following the death of popular content creator and actress Karina Kaiser, who passed away while undergoing treatment in Chennai, India.

According to her father, Kaiser Hamid, Karina’s body is expected to arrive in Dhaka this afternoon. After reaching the country, her remains will be taken directly to Banani DOHS, where the first funeral prayer will be held at the central mosque after Maghrib prayers.

A second funeral prayer is scheduled to take place before the Isha prayer at Banani Darbar Sharif Mosque.

Family members said that on Monday, following a third funeral prayer after Zuhr prayers, Karina will be buried in Abdullahpur village under Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj. She will be laid to rest beside land donated by her mother for a mosque, in accordance with the family’s wishes.

Her death has triggered an outpouring of grief across social media and the cultural community. Representatives of student groups and participants of the July movement have also proposed holding a funeral prayer for her at the Central Shaheed Minar on Monday morning. However, Kaiser Hamid said a final decision on the matter has not yet been made.

Family sources revealed that Karina had been suffering from serious liver complications for a long time. As her condition worsened, she was taken to India last week for advanced treatment at Christian Medical College Vellore.

She died on Friday night while receiving treatment at the hospital.

According to her father, Karina’s blood pressure suddenly dropped during an antibiotic procedure related to lung treatment. Despite extensive efforts by doctors, she could not be revived.

Medical sources said her liver had been severely damaged due to complications arising from Hepatitis A and E infections. Doctors were reportedly trying to stabilize the infection and preparing for a liver transplant, but the treatment ultimately proved unsuccessful.
