Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has warned that no individuals involved in violence or disruption within hospitals will be spared, regardless of their political affiliation or ideology.
The minister made the remarks on Saturday night while visiting injured physician Dr. Nasir at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After inquiring about the doctor’s condition, he spoke to journalists about the government’s position on hospital security and law enforcement.
According to the minister, the Prime Minister has issued clear instructions to ensure strict action against all offenders involved in attacks or unrest in medical institutions.
He added that authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from medical facilities in detail to identify everyone connected to the incidents.
Addressing concerns over internal discipline and corruption in the healthcare sector, the minister said the government remains highly alert to prevent irregularities, syndicates and misuse linked to hospital tender management systems. He stressed that no criminal group would be allowed to obstruct healthcare services.
In a major announcement aimed at improving safety for healthcare professionals, the minister revealed that every government hospital across the country will now receive enhanced security measures. Under the new plan, 10 armed security personnel and one patrol commander will be deployed at each government hospital to ensure the protection of doctors and medical staff.
